Our new project car for the 2008/2009 show season is this 2004 reflex silver VW Golf Mk 4 R32 which we purchased in early March 2008.
The R32 was a limited Golf Mk 4 4WD version fitted with a 3.2 V6 engine boasting approx 230bhp in standard trim. The car has been fitted with the full winter pack including full black leather trim with heated Konig sport front seats, xenon lights, climate control and much more!
The plan was to build a car that could be used on a daily basis but could also be taken to shows, helping to promote the products we sell. We decided to concentrate on performance upgrades that would exploit the superb 4WD chassis. The R32 was treated to some carefully chosen suspension modifications, combined with Porsche brakes to make the car handle and stop like a true racing car. The supercharged stage 2 engine produces in excess of 370bhp. Acceleration to 60mph takes approx 4.7 seconds while 100mph is seen in just over 11 seconds. The chassis feels tight and predictable - a really driver friendly car!
